Introduction

Caasify's bandwidth calculator allows for monitoring the proportion usage of total available server traffic. The Caasify platform provides VPS servers with specific amounts of monthly traffic (bandwidth). For example, if you have a VPS with 1 TB of traffic and you've used 300 GB, you've consumed 30% of your total available bandwidth.

Every VPS server comes with a defined monthly traffic limit. This includes both inbound and outbound traffic.

A server with 3TB traffic consumed 3.71 TB of traffic consumption, you have already used 123% of the allocated bandwidth on December 1. This means the server owner will need to purchase additional bandwidth for the overage.

Caasify's billing operates monthly. You'll never be charged mid-month for extra traffic usage. Instead, we'll send a notification asking for additional bandwidth to be purchased.

Practical Examples for Better Understanding

See how the bandwidth monitoring works in real-world scenarios

Scenario 1: Exceeding the Daily Allowance at the Beginning of the Month

Suppose you have a VPS with 3 TB of monthly traffic, which means the daily allowance should ideally be around 100 GB per day (3 TB divided by 30 days).

A surge in your traffic occurs right at the start of the month, and you exceed 1 TB within the first few days. You've now already used 33% of the allocated bandwidth. You don't need to take immediate action, but keep the following in mind:

Outcome:

If your traffic consumption slows down in the following days (falls below 100 GB/day), you may end up staying within your allowance by the end of the month. We'll keep you informed of any overages that require action.

However, if you continue at the same pace, you'll exhaust your total allocation before the month ends, and you'll need to purchase additional bandwidth to avoid service restrictions.

Scenario 2: Compensating Excess Usage Late in the Month

Suppose you have a VPS with 3 TB of monthly traffic (3072 GB).

On December 6 (for example), you've already consumed 650 GB, which is approximately 21% of the allocated bandwidth for the entire month. This means you're using traffic faster than your average daily allowance—at this rate, by the end of the month (assuming December has 31 days) you'd exceed the 3TB limit. However, if your usage drops significantly in the days that follow, you can still remain within your bandwidth allocation on the final day.

Result:

By lowering your daily usage after December 6, you allow yourself to "make up" for the excess you consumed earlier in the month. You might end up under or very close to the 3TB limit on the last day.

What Happens When Bandwidth is Exhausted?

If the server exhausts its VPS allocated traffic within a month, no automatic suspension happens. We simply notify the server owner or client via email to purchase extra bandwidth. There are two key points to understand here:

Uninterrupted Service:

Your server continues running even when you've exceeded your traffic allowance; it's not immediately suspended. However, if you fail to respond to our request to purchase additional bandwidth, the service will eventually be suspended for lack of payment or compliance.
